The 2025 Puerto Princesa City Meet officially opened with a vibrant display of talent, unity, and athletic spirit, highlighted by inspiring messages, dynamic performances, and solemn pledges that set the tone for this yearโ€™s competition held at the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex, Nov. 27.

The program began with an energetic dance salvo performed by the San Jose National High School dancers, immediately electrifying the crowd and showcasing the cityโ€™s youthful creativity. This was followed by uplifting words from the School Governance and Operations Division Chief, Dr. Eleazer Arellano, and the City Sports Director, Atty. Gregorio Austria.

The ceremonial hoisting of the City and Schools Division Office banners added a sense of pride and formality to the occasion. Delegation heads were also introduced to the audience, followed by the hoisting of athletic delegation banners, symbolizing unity among the participating schools.

The message from Schools Division Superintendent, Laida M. Lagar-Mascareรฑas, CESO VI, highlighted the event where she emphasized that true champions are shaped by both mind and heart.

She urged student-athletes to use their strength not only in competition but also in facing the challenges of life.

โ€œGamitin ang inyong lakas sa bawat pagsubok na inyong masasalubong habang naglalaro,โ€ she reminded the athletes, encouraging perseverance, discipline, and integrity.

Adding excitement to the festivities was the spirited bench cheer performance from the Sta. Monica National High School students, which energized the delegations and set a competitive yet friendly atmosphere.

Athletes then took their solemn Oath of Sportsmanship, led by Michaela Encarnation, a PNS athlete and bronze medalist in lawn tennis doubles at the 2025 Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Norte. Her presence served as an inspiration to aspiring young athletes hoping to follow a similar path.

The Oath of Officials was administered by Division Sports Officer Dr. Ambrocio Escorpiso, ensuring fairness, sportsmanship, and professionalism throughout the competitions.

A symbolic moment followed with the Lighting of the Urn of Friendship, representing camaraderie and the unbreakable bond formed through sports. Shortly after, SDS Mascareรฑas formally declared the 2025 City Meet open, marking the beginning of the much-awaited event.

To cap off the ceremony, athletes and coaches joined in a Unity Dance to the tune of โ€œPalarong Pambansa! Laban na May Puso,โ€ embodying the spirit of teamwork and shared purpose. This was led by Palawan National School Senior High School Physical Education students.

The 2025 City Meet is geared toward the theme โ€œMalakas, Matatag, at May Talino: Iyan ang Batang Puerto Princesa.โ€
